Senne Lammens: Appeared assured for much of the contest, but that composure suddenly disappeared. His major mistake led to Bournemouth’s third goal. 4
Leny Yoro: Produced an important clearance to prevent Evanilson from scoring at close range. He initially seemed in control before slipping and handing Bournemouth their second goal. 5
Harry Maguire: Was given back the captain’s armband previously removed by Erik ten Hag. Stopped an early effort from Rayan and pushed forward in an attempt to create opportunities. 6
Ayden Heaven (off 64, Martinez): Showed encouraging signs, although the 20-year-old was given a demanding assignment. He was booked for launching into a challenge that Evanilson avoided, and the resulting free-kick ultimately produced Bournemouth’s opening goal. 5
Diogo Dalot: Advanced effectively but lacked precision with his shooting, while a careless pass to Evanilson inside his own half caused concern. Tried to energise his teammates without making much difference. 5
Carlos Baleba (off, 72, Zirkzee): Continued to make adventurous choices despite the pressure surrounding the team. Brought some forward momentum through central areas. 5
Andrey Santos: Tielemans’ loose touch left him attempting a reckless challenge on Truffert, resulting in a booking. Otherwise contributed very little. 4
Amad Diallo (off 78, Amad): Displayed excellent technique to beat Truffert, but such moments were rare and his distribution lacked accuracy. 4
Youri Tielemans (off 46, Cunha): Was not reliable enough in possession to perform the role Carrick had assigned him. A disappointing display that ended at the interval. 4
Mason Mount: Switched roles with Tielemans and regularly looked to receive possession. Sent a cross into the area expecting a teammate to attack it and was frustrated when nobody reacted. 5
Bryan Mbeumo: Had minimal involvement until he was played through for an attempt near the end of the first half. Registered another effort after the break. 6
Subs:
Matheus Cunha (on 46, Tielemans): Came on at the start of the second half and produced a curling attempt from the edge of the box, but it missed the target. 6
Lisandro Martinez (on 64, Heaven): Almost conceded another goal through an error before nearly finding the net at the opposite end. 6
Joshua Zirkzee (on 72, Baleba): Was unable to provide even a consolation goal. 5
