Group technical director Johannes Spors recently offered an indication of the board’s position during a Southampton supporters’ forum.
Spors has been in the role since 2025 and was instrumental in making Eckert the club’s permanent head coach in December last year.
Spors said the club’s response would depend entirely on the final decision, as several possible outcomes remain unclear.
He explained that no firm plans had been made because the club was concentrating on the present, but it would respond appropriately if action became necessary.
He added that various scenarios had been discussed internally as a precaution, although he remained hopeful of a favourable resolution.
Southampton also considered several possible situations during their pre-season tour.
Eckert observed one friendly from the stands and later told the club’s media team that he hoped such an arrangement would not be required when asked about coaching away from the technical area.
