Troy Deeney’s Team of the Week Picks: Gabriel, Dalot, Neto, Maddison and Haaland

News

Sander Berge (Fulham): The meeting with Hull was hugely important, with both sides desperate for points. A defeat would have left Fulham in serious relegation trouble, but they secured the result they needed, and Berge played a central role in their best moments.

Diego Gomez (Brighton): His remarkable goal from the halfway line speaks for itself.

Pedro Neto (Chelsea): His two goals proved decisive for Chelsea. Neto has always shown clear ability, although it can sometimes be difficult to identify exactly what makes him so effective. In this match, however, every part of his game came together. With Morgan Rogers, Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer attracting defenders’ attention, Neto could enjoy an excellent season by using his speed to attack space at the far post.

Johan Manzambi (Aston Villa): He has comfortably been the standout performer of the month so far. The 21-year-old Swiss prospect is helping drive Aston Villa forward, combining a genuine desire to improve with the confidence to demand possession and demonstrate his quality.

James Maddison (Tottenham): It is wonderful to have James Maddison back. Tottenham needed greater creativity near the opposition goal and lacked an obvious scoring threat, but Maddison answered those concerns with an excellent finish into the top corner. Seeing him fit, happy and contributing again is a major positive.
