Republic of Ireland forward Troy Parrott has moved from Dutch outfit AZ Alkmaar to Spanish club Real Betis.
The clubs confirmed on Thursday that the transfer had been finalized, with Parrott agreeing to a five-year deal.
Reports earlier in the week indicated that negotiations were at an advanced stage over a transfer valued at 20m euros (£17.1m).
The 24-year-old, who started his professional career at Tottenham, had also attracted strong interest from West Ham.
Parrott left Spurs for AZ in July 2024 after spending the previous campaign on loan with fellow Dutch side Excelsior Rotterdam.
He made an impressive start to last season by netting 10 times in his opening seven matches, although a knee ligament injury suffered in late August sidelined him until October.
The striker completed the Dutch league campaign with 16 goals from 28 appearances and also delivered important performances for his country during their successful bid to reach the World Cup play-offs.
Last November, he struck twice in a 2-0 victory against Portugal before scoring a hat-trick three days later in a 3-2 away win over Hungary, including the decisive goal in the 96th minute.
That achievement made Parrott the first player representing the Republic of Ireland men’s team to record an away hat-trick. He also became the first Irishman to score three times in a competitive men’s international since Robbie Keane did so in 2014.
With 37 international appearances, Parrott is expected to remain a key figure in Heimir Hallgrimsson’s squad for the upcoming Nations League campaign, where Ireland will meet Kosovo, Austria and Israel in Group B3.
Real Betis placed fifth in La Liga during the 2025-26 campaign, securing qualification for the Champions League.
