Birmingham City, fresh from winning promotion, have brought in England goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley from Brighton.
The 29-year-old heads back to the side she first joined as a six-year-old and where she made her professional breakthrough a decade ago, in 2014.
Reports suggest she has agreed a two-year contract that includes an option to extend for a further season.
After stints with Bristol City and Manchester United, Baggaley moved to Brighton in 2023 and accumulated 42 outings for the Seagulls.
Since 2025 she has been a frequent member of Sarina Wiegman’s England set-up, though she still awaits her first full international appearance.
“You never lose affection for the place where it all began,” Baggaley said.
“Birmingham laid the groundwork for my journey in the game, and I hope now I can repay some of that.
“The club has experienced many twists and turns recently, but the investment in the women’s programme is obvious and I am thrilled to play a part in that project.”
She was named Brighton’s player of the year in her first season but has seen limited minutes since Nigerian goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie came in.
Brighton announced last month that Baggaley would leave when her deal expires at the end of this summer.
“Sophie understands the significance of wearing the Birmingham City shirt and she comes back a much more seasoned player,” said manager Amy Merricks.
“She has accumulated considerable top-flight experience in recent years and will bring genuine quality, guidance and strong competition to our goalkeeping unit.”
