What exactly is the vision that Codina perceives for West Ham?
Guarino, having guided Juventus to four consecutive Italian league championships, replaced Rehanne Skinner at West Ham halfway through the previous campaign.
Back in January, she mentioned they would gradually enhance their playing approach, yet it was evident that structure and defensive solidity took precedence.
However, that might shift in the current season.
“To be honest, I believe we will witness a West Ham side that supporters can take pride in, and for me, that is what matters most,” Codina remarked.
“It will be a familiar West Ham identity – a team capable of playing proper football, aiming to dominate possession whenever possible.
“Under Rita, one could notice defending was their primary trait, but I think this season we intend to get better when in possession.”
Codina shares that she already feels settled, having started preseason training this week, though remaining in London certainly makes things easier.
The central defender relocated to England in 2023 following nine years with Barcelona, where she rose through the youth ranks to reach the senior squad.
Now she is eager to contribute to the local area and has already been volunteering her time assisting West Ham’s charitable foundation in engaging with youngsters in east London.
“I am relishing life over here. I adore discovering different cultures. London possesses a unique charm. I am making an effort to savor every moment,” said Codina.
“This sport affords me this chance, and I will strive to make the very best of it.
“I tell the youngsters that it is not solely about victory. It is not just about reaching the top women’s league, nor merely representing the national side. It encompasses so many other aspects.”
