Arsenal have completed the £34 million signing of Greek forward Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge. The 24-year-old has agreed a five-year contract with the Premier League champions and arrives as the replacement for Leandro Trossard, who has left for Besiktas.

Tzolis’s move to the Emirates – the club’s third permanent arrival this summer – comes two days after the north London side missed out on Morgan Rogers. Rogers sealed a British-record £117 million switch to Chelsea, describing his new team as the “biggest club in London”.

Tzolis found the net 43 times in 108 appearances for Club Brugge, and featured in the Belgian side’s 3-0 Champions League loss to Mikel Arteta’s men in December. “I think I need a moment to take it all in,” Tzolis said. “It’s absolutely incredible to join such a huge club, the champions of England. I’m really proud to be part of this team for the coming season.”

Arsenal’s sporting director Andrea Berta added: “We’re thrilled to have secured Christos. He is an extremely versatile attacking player who naturally occupies the left flank but is capable across the entire forward line. He’s an outstanding finisher with either foot, excels in congested areas, and possesses sublime technical quality.

“Over the past three seasons, Christos has delivered impressive goal and assist numbers. He will raise the technical bar of our squad while bringing positive energy, enthusiasm, and a strong character. We’re confident he will make a major impact at the club, and we hope our supporters relish watching him in an Arsenal shirt. We look forward to sharing this exciting new chapter together.”

Tzolis played 14 Premier League matches for Norwich during the 2021-22 campaign but his only two goals for the club came in the League Cup. Loan spells at Twente and Fortuna Düsseldorf followed before he moved to Brugge in 2024.

The Greece international joins Piero Hincapié – who turned his temporary deal into a permanent one – and goalkeeper Illan Meslier, a free signing from Leeds, as the team’s third new recruit. The announcement offers a timely lift for Arteta after defender William Saliba was this week ruled out for a lengthy spell due to the back problem that cut short his World Cup. The French international is set to miss the start of Arsenal’s Premier League title defence.
