Women’s Super League: London City Secure Midfielder Daniela Arques

News

London City Lionesses have secured the services of Spanish youth international Daniela Arques from Sporting, pending international clearance.

The 20-year-old has agreed to a three-year contract and further strengthens London City’s Spanish presence.

During an ambitious summer recruitment drive, London City have also brought in two-time Spanish Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas and former Barcelona defender Mapi Leon.

Arques will reunite with London City’s Spanish coach Eder Maestre following an impressive season in Portugal, where she made 32 appearances and established herself as an important member of the team.

“I’m delighted to join London City and eager to begin this new chapter,” Arques said.

“Moving to the UK to compete in the WSL is a fantastic opportunity, and I hope to grow both on and off the pitch.

“The chance to train alongside accomplished players and gain knowledge from them each day is especially exciting.”

Arques represented Spain’s under-19 side as they won consecutive European championships in 2024 and 2025 before she progressed to the under-20 squad.

She started her playing career with Athletic Club de Murcia and later represented Alhama and Levante in Spain’s highest division.
