Latest football transfer gossip: Folarin Balogun linked with Tottenham, Pedro Neto eyed by Man City, plus Rulli, Sancho, Lukaku and more.

It has been a subdued summer for Folarin Balogun, but a potentially contentious transfer may be on the horizon. The Monaco forward, who began his senior career with Arsenal, has been connected with Tottenham Hotspur as they look to strengthen their attacking options. The United States international has reportedly been offered to Roberto De Zerbi’s team by his representatives. Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is also thought to interest the Italian coach, although no formal offer has been submitted.

Tottenham and Manchester City could also feature prominently in the transfer market. Should Savinho complete a long-discussed move south, Enzo Maresca is reportedly interested in bringing in Pedro Neto as his replacement, having previously coached the Portugal winger at Chelsea. Elsewhere, Manor Solomon appeared close to joining West Ham, but Hull have now entered the contest for his signature as they step up their recruitment efforts.

Tijjani Reijnders has struggled to establish a clearly defined position at Manchester City. Nottingham Forest are reportedly considering a move for the midfielder, with a possible £55m fee being discussed, although his prospective role at the City Ground remains uncertain. Manchester United, meanwhile, view Morgan Gibbs-White as a possible successor to Bruno Fernandes if the Portugal international eventually leaves Old Trafford.

A deal that may be more likely at the Etihad Stadium is the arrival of Marseille goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli . The Argentina international is regarded as a suitable replacement for James Trafford, who appears set to join Leeds.

Crystal Palace are preparing to become more active in the market, with Steve Parish reportedly interested in Real Salt Lake winger Zavier Gozo . The highly rated teenager has impressed in MLS and could regard a move to south-east London as the right stage in his development.

Jadon Sancho is believed to have several proposals to consider as he searches for his next club. Teams from Europe and Saudi Arabia are interested in the former England international, who is available without a transfer fee following his summer departure from Manchester United.

Having already recruited Freddie Potts from West Ham, Club Brugge are now monitoring another player from London. Crystal Palace winger Romain Esse, a Lambeth native, has attracted the Belgian club’s attention following his loan spell at Coventry. Boreham Wood wide player Abdul Abdulmalik is also drawing overseas interest, with Swedish club Djurgårdens pursuing him. An offer worth a total of £1m has been turned down, but an improved proposal may follow.

Romelu Lukaku’s career in Europe may also be approaching its conclusion. Atlanta United are reportedly interested in taking the experienced Napoli striker to MLS. Although recent fitness issues have affected him, the 33-year-old remained a difficult opponent at the World Cup after spending much of his career as a prolific but sometimes underappreciated goalscorer.
