Premier League newcomers Hull City have completed the signing of Greek goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis from Olympiacos for a record-breaking club fee.
The 23-year-old has agreed to a five-year deal with the Tigers.
While the clubs have not disclosed the transfer fee, the deal is reportedly worth approximately £20m, with additional payments potentially included.
Hull’s previous record signing was Ryan Mason, who joined from Tottenham for £13m in 2016.
Tzolakis spent all of his senior career at Olympiacos, recording 131 appearances and collecting eight trophies after making his debut in 2020. His honours include four Greek Super League championships and the 2023-24 Uefa Conference League trophy.
One month after helping Olympiacos secure European silverware, he made his Greece debut against Malta. He has since represented his country nine times.
Tzolakis said he was prepared to begin the next stage of his career.
He reflected positively on his time at Olympiacos, where he won the Conference League, a domestic championship and a cup while also gaining experience in major European competitions.
The goalkeeper described joining Hull as a new experience, noting that competing in the Premier League against elite players would present a major challenge.
He added that he felt prepared for the opportunity and would work with complete commitment in every training session to support the team’s objectives. Tzolakis also expressed his excitement about moving to England and said the chance to perform at the highest level influenced his decision to join Hull.
