Hull City have completed the transfers of English attacker Joe Gelhardt from Leeds and French midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath from Red Bull Salzburg, with both fees remaining undisclosed.
Gelhardt has agreed to a four-year contract that includes an option for an additional year, while Gourna-Douath has signed a five-year deal with the Tigers.
The two newcomers are Hull’s 10th and 11th additions since the club earned promotion back to the Premier League last season.
Gelhardt, 24, is back at the club following two productive loan periods across 18 months. He scored 14 Championship goals last season, including the decisive second goal in the play-off semi-final return leg against Millwall.
The forward began his career with Wigan before moving to Leeds, where he recorded three goals in 57 appearances while also spending time on loan at Sunderland and Hull.
Gelhardt said he was delighted to complete the move after thoroughly enjoying his previous 18 months at the club. He added that, once the season finished, returning to Hull was always his preferred choice.
He also explained that he quickly developed a strong bond with the supporters, coaching staff and teammates, and is pleased to have joined permanently rather than on another loan.
Gourna-Douath launched his senior career at Saint-Etienne and featured 65 times for the French club before completing a move to Salzburg in 2022.
Across four seasons, he played 95 matches for Salzburg. He then spent the latter half of the previous campaign on loan with Le Havre, making 15 Ligue 1 appearances.
Gourna-Douath expressed his happiness after completing a lengthy transfer process that began with the initial phone conversation, adding that he is eager to begin his new chapter.
The midfielder described Hull City as a major family-oriented club and said he is looking forward to playing in front of its supporters.
