Fulham Hold Talks Over Rayo Vallecano Defender Andrei Ratiu

News

Fulham have opened negotiations to recruit Romanian defender Andrei Ratiu from Rayo Vallecano.

Discussions remain ongoing regarding a potential transfer for the 28-year-old, who is willing to consider a switch to Craven Cottage.

Alvaro Arbeloa’s team want to reinforce their defensive options. Although Ratiu mainly operates at right-back, he can also cover several other roles.

Born in Romania, Ratiu has played nearly all of his club football in Spain since entering Villarreal’s academy, with the exception of a loan period at Dutch side ADO Den Haag.

After leaving Villarreal to join Huesca, he later moved to Rayo Vallecano in 2023 and made his La Liga debut for the club.

Arbeloa, who succeeded Marco Silva as Fulham manager this summer, hopes to strengthen his squad before the transfer window closes on Tuesday night.

The west London club have already brought in striker Gonzalo Garcia and attacker Cesar Palacios from Real Madrid, as well as midfielder Shea Charles from Southampton.

They have also converted forward Jonah Kusi-Asare’s loan from Bayern Munich into a permanent transfer.

Fulham began their Premier League campaign with a 3-2 home loss to local rivals Chelsea on Monday before securing a 3-0 Carabao Cup victory over AFC Wimbledon on Thursday.
