Rangers Sign Portland’s Kelsy and Loan Stuttgart’s Bouanani

News

Rangers have completed the permanent signing of Venezuelan forward Kevin Kelsy from Portland Timbers for an undisclosed sum, while Algerian winger Badredine Bouanani has arrived from Stuttgart on a season-long loan.

The two deals, announced before the Scottish transfer window shut on Thursday, bring the number of new players added to the Ibrox squad this summer to 14.

Kelsy, 22, has agreed a four-year contract with the Scottish Premiership side, which includes an option for a further season. He moved to Portland on a four-year agreement after leaving Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2025.

The striker has featured 16 times for Portland this season, recording 10 goals and three assists. The club currently occupies 11th place in the Western Conference and 17th position in the overall Major League Soccer standings.

Across his time with the team, the 6ft 4in (1.93m) left-footed attacker has made 63 appearances, found the net 19 times and supplied five assists. He also helped Portland finish eighth in the Western Conference and 17th overall last season.

Kelsy began his professional journey at Mineros de Guayana and later played for Boston River in Uruguay. He then spent two championship-winning campaigns with Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine, where he scored nine times in 37 matches.
