Jersey Bulls Women suffered the first league defeat in their history after losing 3-0 away to Sutton United Under-23s.
The island team were making their debut in the South East Counties Women’s Football League’s Surrey Premier Division, having earned promotion by winning every match last season.
During their first campaign in the English football pyramid, Jersey maintained a flawless record on their way to the Surrey Division One title.
However, the higher standard proved challenging as they endured a second straight defeat following their FA Cup loss the previous week.
The opening half ended without a goal, but Sutton broke the deadlock three minutes after the interval when Rachel Marlow redirected a free kick.
Neriyah Anderson-Bailey doubled the advantage shortly afterwards with a strike from the edge of the penalty area following a corner, before Maya Anderson completed the scoring.
Jersey Bulls will visit Oxted and District next week, with their opponents having recorded one draw and one defeat in their first two fixtures.
