Halliday said on Sportsound that he had expected Pocognoli to be given some time to settle in during this camp, but believes that adjustment period has now ended.
He described it as one of Scotland’s weakest displays in recent memory, particularly against opponents they had been expected to defeat.
Slovenia repeatedly found space behind Scotland’s advanced defensive line, leaving former national team captain Willie Miller questioning whether Pocognoli will continue with a three-man defence.
Speaking on Sportsound, Miller said that although Pocognoli had been able to work on his favoured formation, Scotland’s organisation was extremely poor.
He added that large spaces kept opening up across the pitch, allowing Slovenia to exploit them repeatedly.
Miller also questioned how the new manager should respond, asking whether he should abandon his preferred approach and restore a four-player defensive line.
He concluded that while Pocognoli favours a three-player defence, its execution in this match was exceptionally poor.
