Middlesbrough have reached an agreement to sign Tottenham forward Will Lankshear, with the total fee potentially rising to a club-record £20m.
The deal is structured with an initial payment of around £10m and a further £10m in add-ons linked to various performance targets.
The 21-year-old has yet to finalise personal terms, with other clubs reportedly showing interest.
Lankshear spent the previous campaign on loan at Oxford United, recording 11 goals and four assists in 44 Championship outings.
This follows a standout spell within Tottenham’s youth ranks after arriving from Sheffield United in 2022.
The England youth international struck 23 times for the Under-21 side that lifted the 2023-24 Premier League 2 trophy and was named the division’s Player of the Season.
Lankshear made his first-team debut in October 2024 against Ferencvaros in the Europa League. The striker scored his maiden senior goal and was later sent off in his following appearance in the competition away to Galatasaray.
This would mark Middlesbrough’s fourth summer arrival after landing Miles Peart-Harris from Oxford on a free transfer, along with Jeremy Sarmiento from Brighton and Kyle Joseph from Hull City.
It comes after midfielder Hayden Hackney departed for Everton for approximately £16m. Middlesbrough will also be due a substantial sell-on fee if Chelsea complete the £117m acquisition of their former attacker Morgan Rogers.
