Arsenal Reach Agreement to Sign PSG Defender Elisa de Almeida

News

Arsenal have reached an agreement to recruit French defender Elisa de Almeida from Paris St-Germain.

Reports from France indicate that the transfer could be worth approximately £550,000, with the player set to arrive before Thursday’s deadline.

The 28-year-old is capable of playing in several defensive roles, including centre-back, where Arsenal require additional options due to early-season injuries.

De Almeida has been with PSG for five years, recording over 100 appearances and gaining valuable experience in the Women’s Champions League.

Her entire club career has been based in France, having played for Paris FC and Montpellier before making the move to PSG.

At international level, De Almeida has earned 52 caps for France and featured in the national squads selected for the 2023 Women’s World Cup and Euro 2025.

Arsenal are aiming to secure their first Women’s Super League championship since 2019 and have reinforced their squad this summer by bringing in players such as England midfielder Georgia Stanway and Spanish full-back Ona Batlle.

Renee Slegers’ team will begin the new campaign away to Brighton on Sunday, 6 September, with kick-off scheduled for 12:00 BST.
