Vinícius Júnior has put an end to speculation about his future by signing a new six-year deal with Real Madrid. Arsenal had shown strong interest in the Brazilian international, whose previous contract at the Bernabéu had entered its final 12 months.
Real’s failure to secure a trophy during a turbulent 2025-26 season, combined with early uncertainty following José Mourinho’s arrival in Madrid, caught the attention of the English champions. However, Vinícius has now pledged his long-term future to the Spanish side.
“Real Madrid and Vinícius Júnior have reached an agreement to renew the player’s contract, keeping him at the club until 30 June 2032,” the club announced.
“Vinícius Júnior arrived at Real Madrid in July 2018 when he was 18 years old. Across eight seasons in our colours, he has made 375 appearances, scored 128 goals and collected 14 trophies: two Champions League titles, three Club World Cups, two Uefa Super Cups, three La Liga championships, one Copa del Rey and three Spanish Super Cups.
“His performances, creativity, assists and goals have played a crucial role in securing these honours.”
Vinícius posted on Instagram: “Eight years at the Bernabéu are not enough … another six years, and forever!”
The 26-year-old had already suggested that a renewal was likely during a club interview on Tuesday. He explained that Mourinho wanted him to rediscover his happiness and enjoyment after a challenging period.
Brazil’s unexpected elimination in the last 16 of the World Cup in America further contributed to a disappointing year for Vinícius. With his contract situation now resolved, the former Flamengo youngster will focus on helping Real challenge for major trophies again under Mourinho.
Securing Vinícius’s future marks another important move in a busy summer for Real. The club have also reinforced their squad by bringing in winger Yan Diomande, midfielder Bernardo Silva, centre-back Ibrahima Konaté, left-back Marc Cucurella and wing-back Denzel Dumfries.
