Birmingham City have completed the signing of French youth international Chancelle Effa Effa from Le Havre.

The Blues, who claimed the WSL 2 championship last season, are believed to have paid slightly more than £100,000 for the 19-year-old forward.

After developing through Le Havre’s academy, she made her first senior appearance when she was only 15.

During her breakthrough campaign, Effa Effa contributed to Le Havre’s promotion to the highest level of French football before agreeing professional terms in December 2022.

The forward, who has played for France from under-16 through under-23 level, still had one year left on her Le Havre contract.

Effa Effa said she was thrilled to join a team with Birmingham City’s rich history and looked forward to competing in the Women’s Super League.

She added that the team’s plans impressed her from their earliest discussions, highlighting its clear ambition and determination to create something successful.

She also expressed her excitement about beginning the next chapter of her career.

Effa Effa was part of the France squad that won the Women’s Under-17 European Championship in 2023 and later reached the Women’s Under-19 European final in 2025.

Across France’s youth teams, she has registered 17 goals in 28 matches.

Manager Amy Merricks said Birmingham City had monitored Effa Effa for an extended period and was pleased to welcome her to the team.

Merricks described her as a talented young attacker with significant potential, noting her useful experience in France’s top division and strong displays at youth international level.

She said the team was eager to support the forward’s continued progress and discover what she could contribute in Birmingham colours.
