Chelsea are looking to bring in England defender John Stones on a free transfer after he departed Manchester City.
The club from west London, along with Inter Milan, are weighing up a move for the 32-year-old, who became unattached after his deal with City ran out at the end of June.
Chelsea are also negotiating to secure Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix, as they evaluate alternative targets, such as Jacobo Ramon from Como.
The club is aiming to offload central defenders to free up room in the roster for possible additions.
England international Trevoh Chalobah is discussing a move to Como, while Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile are among those on the market.
Stones played 295 games for City following his transfer from Everton for £47.5 million in 2016.
He contributed to the club collecting six Premier League championships, the Champions League trophy, two FA Cups, five League Cups, three Community Shields, the Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup.
The former Barnsley player also earned 93 caps for his country and featured in the England team that came third at the World Cup.
Chelsea confirmed the £117 million transfer of England midfielder Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa on Tuesday night.
The London side are also discussing with Villa the possibility of Argentina winger Alejandro Garnacho heading the other way on loan.
