Como president Mirwan Suwarso and a number of club directors will hand their tickets to older supporters for the team’s first Champions League fixture.
The Serie A side are set to welcome RB Leipzig on Thursday at 20:00 BST, having secured a place in the European tournament for the first time in the club’s 119-year history.
Como earned qualification by ending last season fourth in Italy’s top division under Cesc Fabregas, the former Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona midfielder.
Interest in attending the club’s landmark European match has been much greater than the number of seats available.
Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, Como’s lakeside home, normally holds around 12,000 spectators, but its capacity was cut by another 1,000 seats to meet Uefa’s broadcast and operational needs.
Following the sell-out, Indonesian businessman Suwarso revealed on Instagram that he and several senior club officials would give their places to elderly supporters.
Suwarso explained that the smaller capacity and restricted ticket allocation meant the club was unable to welcome everyone hoping to attend.
He added that he and some members of Como’s leadership had therefore chosen to surrender their seats for the game.
Those tickets will be offered to the club’s longest-serving followers, specifically supporters born in 1950 or earlier who have stood by Como throughout its different divisions and eras.
Suwarso said it would be an honour for the executives to make way for those loyal fans.
