Promoted Coventry City have completed the signing of teenage striker Sidiki Cherif from Turkish club Fenerbahce.
The 19-year-old was born in Guinea and relocated to France at the age of five. He has moved to the Sky Blues on a long-term contract after scoring twice in 12 Turkish Super Lig matches for Fenerbahce last season. He initially joined the Turkish club from French side Angers on loan before the transfer became permanent.
Coventry have continued to strengthen their squad under manager Frank Lampard, completing notable deals for Caleb Yirenkyi, Carl Rushworth, Loum Tchaouna, Aurele Amenda and Taiwo Awoniyi, while also bringing back Gustavo Hamer.
Cherif said: “I am delighted to join Coventry City and cannot wait to compete in the Premier League.
“I am eager to show the supporters my abilities and experience the atmosphere inside this fantastic stadium.
“I am ready to begin this new chapter.”
Before joining Coventry Building Society Arena, Cherif had already featured in the Uefa Europa League and taken part in Champions League qualifying matches this season.
He developed through the French system and made his senior debut for Angers during the 2023-24 campaign.
Angers secured promotion to Ligue 1 in 2024, and Cherif enjoyed a breakthrough period at the start of the 2025-26 season, finding the net four times in the top flight before the end of December.
His displays attracted interest from clubs across Europe. The forward, who has represented France at Under-16 and Under-21 level, subsequently completed his move to Turkey.
