Although the complete list of qualifiers has not yet been settled, most of the clubs expected to be placed in pot one are already known.
Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus, AC Milan, AZ Alkmaar, Olympiakos, Real Sociedad and Marseille are set to occupy seven of the nine positions in pot one.
The side defeated in the Champions League qualifier between Fenerbahce and Lyon will be assured of a place in pot one for the Europa League draw.
Benfica, the highest-ranked club remaining in the qualifying rounds, will claim the final position if the Portuguese team overcome Danish opponents AGF.
Scottish title holders Celtic are certain to be placed in pot two alongside Sparta Prague and Rennes. Union Saint-Gilloise of Belgium could be assigned to either pot one or pot two, though the latter appears more probable.
English clubs Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Sunderland will be drawn from either pot two or pot three, with pot three currently the likelier destination. Austria’s Sturm Graz will also be allocated to one of those pots.
Celta Vigo, TSG Hoffenheim, Hapoel Be’er Sheva and NEC Nijmegen are expected to enter pot three or pot four. Torreense, who compete in Portugal’s second division, will likewise be assigned to one of those two pots.
With many tournament places still undecided, no club has yet been definitively assigned to pot three or pot four.
