Former Hibs midfielder Scott Allan believes it is troubling that Reedijk considered the tactical switch necessary.
“What surprised me most was how effective Grant Hanley looked in attack,” Allan said. “That should worry Hibs supporters, as they would have expected Ante Suto to provide that kind of influence.
“In my view, Hibs showed a serious shortage of quality across the match.
“I cannot see using Grant Hanley as a target man during the final 10 minutes as a positive worth highlighting.
“Hibs need a much better plan when attempting to recover from a losing position. There are moments when creating disorder can help, but I do not believe this was one of them. Their approach must improve.”
Suto entered the match 15 minutes before Hanley but was unable to make a notable difference.
Suto and Nathan Lowe are the two forwards in the Hibs squad best equipped to operate as the central striker. Martin Boyle withdrew on the morning of the fixture because of illness, while goalscorer Owen Elding and record signing Thibault Klidje offer different qualities in attack.
Supporters have voiced their frustration with sporting director Malky Mackay and the signings completed during his tenure.
Reedijk must work with his current squad until January, and with Hibs sitting at the foot of the table, the situation is deeply concerning.
Allan was also questioned about whether the team had progressed since Reedijk succeeded former head coach David Gray.
“From my perspective, they have not,” he replied. “Are there signs that they are attempting to adopt a different playing style? There has been plenty of discussion about change, yet little evidence of it on the pitch. Hibs must now focus on securing victories.”
