Aston Villa have secured the services of Senegalese winger Ibrahim Mbaye, 18, from Paris St-Germain in a deal worth 55m euros (£47m).
Mbaye registered three goals and two assists across 31 appearances in all competitions last season, helping PSG retain both the Ligue 1 crown and the Champions League trophy.
The teenager featured in each of Senegal’s four games at the 2026 World Cup. His goal in a 3-1 loss to France made him the youngest African footballer to score at a men’s World Cup.
After arriving from FC Versailles 78 in the summer of 2018, Mbaye developed through PSG’s academy before making his first-team debut in August 2024, aged 16.
Born in France, the winger played for the country at youth level but chose to represent Senegal in 2025, having been eligible through his father.
Mbaye becomes the newest attacking addition to Unai Emery’s squad, following the arrivals of Alejandro Garnacho, Johan Manzambi and Nicolas Jackson.
Despite Villa’s significant summer spending, Emery has also seen several important players depart from his Europa League-winning team.
Morgan Rogers moved to Chelsea for £117m, while defender Ezri Konsa signed for Arsenal in a £55m transfer and striker Ollie Watkins joined Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal for £51m.
