Jack Grealish would favour a return to Everton if he departs Manchester City before the transfer window closes, according to sources.
The 30-year-old came off the bench in City’s first two matches of the campaign, but new manager Enzo Maresca is prepared to allow the England international to leave ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
Grealish played for the Toffees last season, recording two goals and six assists across 20 appearances before a foot injury in January brought his campaign to an early end.
Everton chief executive Angus Kinnear recently confirmed that the club has continued communicating with the player.
Former club Aston Villa are also thought to retain an interest in bringing their ex-captain back. However, City sources indicate that no team has submitted a firm offer so far this summer.
Maresca said on Thursday: “Jack remains with us, and while he is here, my responsibility is to support him and help him deliver his best for the team. We will find out what happens over the next four or five days. I speak to Jack nearly every day.”
City are also interested in Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye, who has reportedly declined several new contract proposals from the Merseyside club.
Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal showed a serious interest in recruiting the Senegal international this summer, but the 26-year-old reportedly rejected the opportunity.
David Moyes’ team has no immediate need to part with Ndiaye, who is contracted until 2029. Everton would likely require a substantial offer of around £70m before considering his departure.
