Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has revealed that he is receiving treatment for a “neurological dysfunction” after collapsing twice during matches within four days.
Musiala fell to the ground on Tuesday, six minutes after entering as a substitute in Bayern’s 4-2 friendly win against Heidenheim.
The 23-year-old looked disoriented while being assessed by medical staff before he was assisted off the field.
It came shortly after a similar episode during Saturday’s 3-1 friendly victory over RB Leipzig in Munich.
Musiala subsequently shared a message on Instagram to reassure supporters about his condition.
“Doctors have diagnosed me with short, temporary absence seizures caused by a neurological disorder that can be treated effectively,” he said.
“This condition may explain the recent incidents against Leipzig and Heidenheim. I understand that they can look frightening, but at the moment they are simply something I am learning to manage in my daily life.
“I am receiving outstanding medical care and remain highly positive. FC Bayern, my family and my friends continue to stand beside me and support me throughout this process.”
After Tuesday’s match, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl said Musiala would address the issue himself, adding: “We already knew about it and fully understand the circumstances.
“Jamal will provide his own update. He is currently in the dressing room, changing and having a shower.”
Musiala was sidelined for the opening six months of last season after suffering a broken ankle at the 2025 Club World Cup. He returned during the latter half of the campaign and was named in Germany’s starting line-up for three of their four matches at the 2026 World Cup.
