England centre-back John Stones is reportedly close to reaching an agreement with Inter Milan over a free transfer to the Italian club.
The defender became available without a transfer fee after his Manchester City contract expired at the end of June.
Several leading European clubs have shown strong interest in Stones, with Chelsea and Juventus among his potential destinations.
However, the reigning Serie A champions have held encouraging talks with the 32-year-old and are believed to be favourites to secure the domestic and European title winner on a two-year deal.
Stones played 295 matches for City following his £47.5m move from Everton in 2016.
During his time at the club, he contributed to six top-flight championships, one Champions League triumph, two FA Cup victories, five League Cup successes, three Community Shield wins, a Club World Cup title and a Uefa Super Cup victory.
The ex-Barnsley player has earned 93 caps for his country and featured in the England team that secured third place at the World Cup.
