Manchester United have taken out a further £90m in loans since 30 June and revealed that their summer spending on new signings reached £191.7m.
United signed Andrey Santos from Chelsea on 13 July, Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa the following day, and Carlos Baleba from Brighton on 25 August.
The transfer fees announced by the club for those three players totalled £153m, leaving it unclear how the remaining amount was used.
Details of the extra £90m in borrowing appeared in an expanded filing submitted to the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday. The disclosure followed the publication of United’s 2025-26 accounts up to 30 June and showed that total debt remained above £1bn, despite extensive cost reductions introduced by Sir Jim Ratcliffe after he became a minority shareholder in 2024.
United reported three additional withdrawals from their revolving credit facility on 29 July, 31 July and 28 August, amounting to £120m. The club subsequently repaid £30m on 21 September.
The latest figures put United’s total debt at £1.15bn. This consists of £578m in long-standing debt, £200m still owed through the revolving credit facility, and £375m in unpaid transfer fees.
The amount owed in transfer payments has fallen by £72m from the £447m recorded in the 2024-25 accounts. Even so, the outstanding balance remains substantial: £104.8m must be paid within one to two years, £51.9m is due within two to five years, and the rest is payable over the coming 12 months.
According to the club, payments relating to its latest signings must be completed within the next five years.
