Spain skipper Rodri is expected to finalise a £65m transfer to Barcelona within the next few days, signing a four-year deal.
The 2024 Ballon d’Or recipient has played 298 matches during seven highly successful seasons at City, having arrived from Atletico Madrid in 2019 for what was then a club-record fee of £62.8m.
The 30-year-old was sidelined for most of the 2024-25 season by a significant knee injury, while a hamstring problem also interrupted parts of the following campaign.
He nevertheless returned to peak form at the summer World Cup, captaining Spain to their second world championship and earning the tournament’s best player award.
