Manchester United are preparing to appoint former Hearts head coach Eva Olid as manager of their women’s team.
The 40-year-old Spaniard is expected to meet United’s squad on Wednesday while the club completes the appointment process. Marc Skinner departed by mutual agreement on Monday, one month before the new Women’s Super League season begins.
Olid left Hearts during the summer after leading the Scottish Women’s Premier League club to their first league championship in the previous campaign.
She took charge of Hearts in 2021 and later agreed to remain until the summer of 2026, with an option for an additional year. However, the club confirmed in April that she would step down by mutual consent at the end of the season.
Olid also took the Edinburgh club to their first domestic cup final, where they were defeated by Rangers in the 2024 Scottish Cup.
Hearts recorded consecutive fourth-place finishes under Olid before ending the 2024-25 season in fifth. They nevertheless secured the club’s first trophy last season, finishing two points ahead of Rangers.
