Odegaard ended the previous campaign in good physical condition before delivering an impressive performance for Norway at the World Cup.
He featured in five of Norway’s six matches during the tournament and supplied four assists.
“The last season was extremely challenging, with plenty of difficult periods. Being forced to miss so many matches through injury was incredibly frustrating,” Odegaard said on Sunday.
“For any footballer, there is nothing worse than being unable to play, and I suffered several unusual injuries along with a fair amount of bad luck.
“Ending the season by winning a trophy here was a great feeling, followed by a positive World Cup. After taking some time off, I now feel refreshed and ready to begin again.”
“I have tried to turn those experiences into motivation for this season, return with greater strength and use everything I learned in a constructive way.”
Odegaard and Guimaraes quickly developed an understanding during their first match together from the start.
“At times, everything simply falls into place. You have to discover that rhythm during a match,” Odegaard said when reflecting on his display.
“The whole team played with a good rhythm, and I will focus on maintaining that level and continuing to improve.”
Arteta also welcomed the prospect of having Odegaard fully fit and available as the new season approached.
“He was sidelined for around five or six months because of several different issues, which made it very hard for him to build any consistency,” Arteta said.
“If we can keep him healthy and available this season, with the teammates around him, I am certain we will see a noticeably different Martin.
“From the first day he returned to pre-season training, I felt he had an extra determination to demonstrate what he can do. The team needs that from him too.”
