Central defender Liam Scales recorded 121 touches, comfortably more than any other Celtic player. Left-back Kieran Tierney followed with 79, while goalkeeper Sam Johnstone had 69.
Despite finding the net, Baur acknowledged that his side had not done enough to earn victory and could not explain what needed to improve. “Based on how we performed in the final 30 minutes of the second half, we deserved something by the end,” he said.
Asked whether he understood why his team had fallen apart so dramatically, he replied: “I’m sorry, but I can’t explain it.”
“Conceding can happen because the opposition are also a strong team and capable of scoring. After that, however, you need to regain control, keep possession for longer and disrupt their momentum.”
Celtic were unable to restore control or halt Celta’s momentum, and they eventually suffered the consequences.

“Celta circulated the ball impressively, and Celtic struggled to get anywhere near them.”
“They do not have the quality needed at this level. Celtic are spending substantial sums on certain players in response to supporters’ expectations, but those signings arrive and fail to meet the required standard.”
Celtic return to European action on 5 November when they welcome Besiktas, hoping to turn around their poor continental form. Whether they are capable of doing so remains uncertain.
