San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York entered no-contest pleas to two criminal charges following his arrest at an Ohio trailer park over the weekend.
A San Francisco news outlet reported that York was originally detained on suspicion of soliciting prostitution, but that allegation was later changed to disorderly conduct. He also faced a charge of possessing criminal tools.
Although a no-contest plea does not amount to an admission of guilt, it means the defendant accepts the penalty associated with the alleged offenses. York received concurrent one-day jail sentences for the two counts and was released on Monday morning. He was also ordered to pay $1,150 in fines and complete an online course. The arrest report did not identify the items described as criminal tools.
Court records cited by a New York publication allege that York replied to an online advertisement and arranged to pay a woman $140 for sexual activity. Authorities arrested him at a trailer park in East Palestine, Ohio, during the early hours of Sunday. The East Palestine Police Department and the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force participated in the operation. York, 46, grew up in Youngstown, about a 30-minute drive from East Palestine, and continues to own a residence in the region.
York is the nephew of former 49ers majority owner Edward J DeBartolo Jr. He assumed responsibility for the franchise’s daily operations after becoming chief executive in 2008. York later became the principal owner in 2024 after acquiring his mother’s shares.
During York’s time as chief executive, the 49ers have appeared in three Super Bowls, losing on each occasion.
Through 49ers Enterprises, he also holds ownership interests in English club Leeds United and Scottish side Rangers.
