Kristi Montgomery has earned his maiden Scotland call-up following the withdrawals of Kieran Tierney and Kenny McLean from the Nations League squad.
New head coach Sebastien Pocognoli has elevated the Blackburn Rovers midfielder from the Under-21 team for two fixtures against Slovenia and matches with Switzerland and North Macedonia.
The 22-year-old has featured from the start in each of Tony Mowbray’s side’s eight Championship games this season.
Celtic defender Tierney and Norwich midfielder McLean share 119 senior international appearances, while seasoned players Scott McTominay, Che Adams and Lawrence Shankland had already been ruled out before Pocognoli selected his squad.
Montgomery becomes the eighth player in the 27-man squad yet to win a senior cap, alongside Luke Graham, Robbie Ure, Luis Binks, Colby Donovan, Jon McCracken, Josh McPake and Stephen Welsh.
Oli McBurnie, Scott Bain, Kieron Bowie, Josh Doig, Lennon Miller and James Wilson have been brought back into the squad, while Napoli midfielder Billy Gilmour returns after an injury kept him out of the World Cup.
Pocognoli has left out Dominic Hyam, Lyndon Dykes, George Hirst, Grant Hanley, Anthony Ralston and Ross Stewart, while Manchester United youngster Tyler Fletcher joins the Under-21 squad after previously replacing Gilmour in the United States.
