Scottish Premiership: Tony Bloom Backs Hearts’ Title Aspirations

News

Tony Bloom says it would be a major disappointment if Hearts do not claim the Scottish Premiership title by 2035.

After acquiring a 29% share in the Edinburgh club, the Brighton chairman promised to challenge the long-standing dominance at the top of Scottish football.

When the deal was completed in June 2025, Bloom also outlined his goal of helping Hearts become champions within ten years.

Hearts narrowly missed out on their first league crown since 1960 last season. They occupied first place for 250 days before suffering a dramatic defeat at Celtic Park on the final day.

Bloom said the difficult conclusion to the campaign was extremely frustrating for both him and the club.

He added that Hearts must acknowledge the outcome, even though they remain unhappy with how the season finished.

Celtic and Rangers have shared every championship since Aberdeen lifted the trophy in 1985, but Bloom believes Hearts are progressing towards ending that lengthy hold on the competition.

Reaffirming his original objective, Bloom said he would be deeply disappointed if Hearts failed to win the Scottish Premiership during that ten-year period.
