Southampton head coach Tonda Eckert admits the possibility of disciplinary action from the Football Association over the spying controversy remains in his thoughts while he waits for a ruling.
More than a week has passed since the 33-year-old was accused of misconduct for approving the monitoring of other teams’ training sessions.
Southampton were removed from the Championship play-offs in May after acknowledging that they had watched three rival clubs train during the season.
The governing body alleged that Eckert behaved improperly and/or damaged the reputation of the sport.
Saints owner Dragan Solak stated in June that he did not intend to dismiss the German coach, although a lengthy suspension could leave the club with little control over that decision.
Eckert acknowledged that the unresolved case remains in the back of his mind.
He believes everyone connected to the matter feels the same way, but his enthusiasm for football helps him concentrate on the extensive work still to be done.
With pre-season training to organise and transfer activity to manage, he said his attention stays on the tasks that require an immediate response.
Although the issue does not occupy his thoughts all the time, Eckert said he will welcome a final decision. Until then, he plans to continue working quietly and believes his players are in a positive position.
