Manchester United are looking at Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga and Fulham’s Sander Berge as they aim to add further depth to Michael Carrick’s midfield.
The club has already brought in two middle-of-the-park players this transfer window: Andrey Santos joined from Chelsea for £48m, while Youri Tielemans moved from Aston Villa in a £35m switch. With Casemiro having moved on and Manuel Ugarte likely to be unavailable for an extended stretch due to a knee ligament issue, United are exploring the possibility of bringing in another midfielder.
Camavinga is thought to be keen on staying at Real, but the La Liga outfit might be open to letting the Frenchman depart to clear room for Rodri. The 23-year-old, left out of France’s World Cup selection and with three years left on his contract, has a €1bn release clause, yet it is believed Real would entertain proposals in the region of €50m–€60m (£42m–£51m).
Berge, 28, has been on United’s radar in the past and would likely cost roughly £40m. Unlike Camavinga, he has substantial experience in the English game. The Norwegian joined Sheffield United in 2020, moved to Burnley in 2023 and then signed for Fulham a year later. Berge took part in Norway’s 2-1 World Cup quarter-final loss to England.
Beyond those two, United’s list of candidates for a potential midfield addition also includes Bournemouth’s Alex Scott and Roma’s Manu Koné.
