Vinicius Junior: Real Madrid Star Set to Restart Contract Negotiations Amid Arsenal Interest

News

Vinicius rejoined his club on Monday for his first pre-season training session and medical checks after representing Brazil at the World Cup.

This week marks the forward’s first time working under Jose Mourinho, and people close to the Portuguese coach suggest he wants the winger to pledge his long-term future to Real.

Vinicius is also eager to stay at the Bernabeu. However, as his deal expires next summer, Real could lose him without receiving a transfer fee unless fresh terms are agreed.

The situation has put added pressure on the club to settle his future before the transfer window closes, with serious negotiations expected to restart in the coming days.

A comparable scenario arose in 2023, when Vinicius entered the final year of his previous agreement before signing an extension that kept him at the club until 2027.

Discussions over another extension have continued for roughly 18 months, although differences regarding his salary and standing in the squad have delayed progress.

The 26-year-old reportedly wants his pay to reflect his position as Los Blancos’ leading figure, particularly after playing a central role for several years before Kylian Mbappe joined.

Real nevertheless remain committed to the carefully controlled wage structure maintained under president Florentino Perez, while Mbappe currently sits among the club’s highest-paid players.

In spite of the uncertainty, Vinicius has called Real “my dream club” and expressed his desire to continue playing there for a long time.

Club officials hope to complete the negotiations this week. Should the two sides fail to reach an agreement, Arsenal may then look to make their move.
