Birmingham have returned to the WSL after four seasons away, earning promotion by claiming the Women’s Super League 2 title last term.
The Blues came out on top in a dramatic championship race against Palace and Charlton, securing the trophy on goal difference following a final-day victory at The Valley.
Their strength was evident at both ends of the pitch, as they registered the division’s second-highest scoring total while allowing the second-fewest goals.
Birmingham also recorded the best goal difference in the league, and forward Lily Crosthwaite was recently honoured as the WSL 2 Player of the Year.
Head coach Amy Merricks has added six players to her squad, including experienced central defender Millie Turner. The new Blues captain made 145 WSL appearances during eight seasons with Manchester United and has represented England twice.
Turner is expected to partner highly rated 23-year-old Neve Herron, who earned a place in the WSL 2 Team of the Year.
Herron acknowledged that the campaign would bring difficult spells as well as positive moments, but insisted the team would be fully prepared for its opening match of the season.
