Of the 48 countries that took part in the 2026 World Cup, 46 have since been knocked out.

Among the first 16 teams eliminated, 12 ended the group stage at the bottom of their sections.

The Czech Republic, Qatar, Haiti, Turkey, Curacao, Tunisia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, Uzbekistan and Panama each placed fourth in their respective groups.

Iran, South Korea, Scotland and Uruguay were eliminated as well after recording the weakest results among the third-placed teams in the group phase.

South Africa, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, Ivory Coast, Sweden, Ecuador, DR Congo, Senegal, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Austria, Cape Verde, Australia, Algeria and Ghana saw their campaigns end with defeats in the round of 32.

Another eight teams were eliminated in the round of 16: Canada, Paraguay, Brazil, Mexico, Portugal, the United States, Egypt and Colombia.

Morocco, Belgium, Norway and Switzerland were the four countries whose journeys ended in the quarter-finals.

France and England became the latest teams to leave the title race after losing their semi-finals. The two sides will meet in the third-place play-off on Saturday night.

Spain and Argentina, who won the respective semi-finals, are the last two teams standing and will contest the final on Sunday evening.
