Its size is especially striking beside the rest of the Racecourse, where parts of the stadium still reflect the club’s recent years in the lower divisions.

During the match against Watford, attentive supporters may have noticed a huge steel truss designed to hold an LED screen measuring nearly seven metres high and 18 metres across.

Parkinson said supporters had waited years for the Kop redevelopment and had finally been able to watch it take shape over recent months. He also saw part of the 1,500 tonnes of steel during his walk around the ground before the game.

He described the progress as highly encouraging and said the completed stand should be an outstanding addition once supporters are allowed inside.

A limited number of fans might be admitted to the new section before the season ends, but the stand is not expected to become fully operational with all its features until the following campaign.

Its potential debut in the Premier League will depend on Wrexham’s results. Parkinson noted after the draw with Watford that his team had collected two more points than at the equivalent stage of the previous season.
