Newcastle Transfer Update: £34m Aladji Bamba Signing Finalized

News

Newcastle United have completed the signing of Monaco midfielder Aladji Bamba in a deal that may eventually be worth £34m.

The French player agreed a five-year contract after completing his medical on Tyneside on Thursday.

The 20-year-old said he was thrilled to learn of Newcastle’s desire to bring him to the club.

He explained that he was familiar with the club’s heritage and had already toured its impressive stadium. Bamba added that he was eager to play there and create memorable moments alongside the supporters.

The midfielder also welcomed the challenge of competing in what he considers the world’s leading league. After gaining valuable experience last season, he believes he is prepared for this opportunity and promised to give everything for his new team.

Although Bamba made his senior debut only last season, his displays in Ligue 1 and the Champions League quickly attracted Newcastle’s attention.

Among Ligue 1 midfielders to feature for at least 500 minutes last season, Bamba placed inside the top five for duels won, averaging 9.1 per match, as well as tackles (3.6), completed dribbles (1.6) and aerial contests won (1.9).

Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe described him as a talented young addition and said the club was eager to begin working with him.

Howe said Aladji would bring greater depth and several valuable attributes to the midfield, while also possessing considerable room for further improvement.

He added that Bamba’s progress since emerging at Monaco had been highly impressive and that Newcastle believed they could support the next stage of his development.
