Ange Postecoglou has taken over as the manager of Saudi Pro League title-holders Al-Nassr, signing a two-year contract, as the Australian looks to rebuild his reputation following two difficult spells in English football’s top division.
“A fresh start. Mr. Ange Postecoglou has been named as the first-team manager of Al-Nassr. The agreement covers two seasons,” the club announced. “We hope for great achievements for him and his coaching team.”
He had previously been in charge at Tottenham, where he led the side to win the Europa League in 2025, yet was dismissed just a fortnight later after the team ended the league campaign in 17th place. His brief tenure at Nottingham Forest during the 2025-26 season proved disastrous, lasting only 40 days; he failed to secure a victory in his first eight matches, suffering six losses.
The 60-year-old, who coached the Australian national men’s team between 2013 and 2017, was previously considered for the Scotland position after Steve Clarke left his role following their World Cup elimination, and was also mentioned in connection with Kazakhstan, though reports indicated his salary expectations were beyond the Central Asian nation’s means.
He inherits a squad captained by Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, who inspired the team to clinch the Saudi Pro League championship on the last day of the season in May, under the guidance of former coach Jorge Jesus, who stepped down following the triumph.

Postecoglou led Celtic to back-to-back Scottish top-flight crowns, and earlier claimed domestic league championships with Brisbane Roar and Yokohama F. Marinos.
