Brighton Captain Maisie Symonds Extends Contract in Women’s Super League

News

In May, Brighton made their first appearance in the Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley, with Symonds captaining the team against Manchester City.

Symonds has played for England at youth levels through the under-21 side and earned her maiden senior-team call-up in March 2025.

After agreeing to the new contract, she said: “I’m delighted because this club truly feels like home. It is the only team I have represented as a professional, and over the past six years, I believe both the club and I have developed enormously alongside the women’s squad.

“The progress we have made during the past two years shows that we are establishing ambitious expectations for ourselves.

“We are beginning to fulfil our capabilities, but our aim is to continue improving.”

Earlier in the year, Brighton unveiled proposals for Europe’s first stadium designed specifically for women’s football, with the project expected to cost between £75m and £80m.
