Wrexham claimed their first Championship victory of the season with an emphatic 3-0 win over an injury-hit Millwall side on Wednesday.
The Welsh club had recorded draws against Cardiff and Watford before suffering a home defeat to Birmingham. They responded convincingly in south London, strengthening their promotion ambitions after narrowly failing to reach the playoffs last season.
Millwall defender Zak Sturge inadvertently turned Issa Kaboré’s cross into his own goal during the first half. Shortly after the interval, Wrexham forward Kieffer Moore struck from 20 yards before Jacques Ekomié completed the scoring with a finish from close range.
Millwall began the campaign with clean-sheet victories over Bristol City and Norwich, but they have now allowed eight goals across two matches following Saturday’s 5-1 defeat against Southampton. Their injury problems also worsened when striker Josh Coburn and midfielder Casper De Norre were forced off, a day after Nigeria winger Femi Azeez completed a £15m move to Brighton.
Rumarn Burrell scored twice as QPR secured a 2-1 victory over Cardiff at Loftus Road, continuing their strong opening to the campaign.
Perry Ng found the net for Cardiff, but his goal could not prevent Julien Stéphan’s second-placed team from increasing their tally to 10 points after four matches.
Ugo Raghouber registered his first goal for Burnley as they recovered from a deficit to earn a 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough at Turf Moor, collecting only their second point in four games.
The French midfielder, who arrived from Lille in July, converted Zeki Amdouni’s pass to equalise in the 54th minute. Aidan Morris had put Middlesbrough ahead after 23 minutes, producing an impressive 20-yard finish for his first club goal in more than two years.
Following their relegation from the Premier League last season, Burnley are enduring a difficult spell. They were beaten 4-1 at Norwich last Saturday and sold Dutch forward Zian Flemming to Ipswich on transfer deadline day.
Charlton surrendered their perfect record but preserved their unbeaten start after Tyreece Campbell scored in the second half to secure a 1-1 draw away to West Brom. Nathan Jones’s team fell behind to a powerful Callum Styles effort shortly before the hour, but Campbell equalised from close range in the 69th minute.
