Chelsea Transfer Update: Lamine Camara’s £47.1m Monaco Deal Falls Through

News

After earlier difficulties in reaching an agreement for Camara, Chelsea made progress when Everton’s pursuit of Balogun reportedly became uncertain.

Reports from France suggested Monaco needed to complete a significant sale during the summer and initially favoured Balogun’s departure. A source close to the Ligue 1 side had previously said that Camara would only be allowed to leave for a considerable transfer fee.

Camara played in Monaco’s 2-0 victory against Marseille on Sunday evening, whereas Balogun was omitted from the matchday squad.

However, uncertainty surrounding Balogun’s potential transfer seemingly prompted Monaco to lower their valuation of Camara, making a £47m switch to Chelsea more attainable.

When Balogun’s move looked likely to proceed again, Monaco appeared to reverse their decision to let Camara leave.
