Liam Rosenior has made a swift return to coaching by taking charge of Paris FC, following his dismissal by Chelsea in April.
The 41-year-old spent fewer than four months at Stamford Bridge but has now returned to France on a two-year deal, which is believed to include an option for an additional season.
Rosenior, who previously coached Strasbourg before taking the Chelsea role, steps in for Antoine Kombouare after the team finished 11th in Ligue 1 last season.
The club, controlled by the Arnault family with Red Bull holding a minority stake, has strong ambitions to climb higher.
Paris FC stated that Rosenior earned the job thanks to his “extensive top‑level experience,” his skill in developing young players, and his dedication to “vibrant and attacking football.”
Rosenior took over from Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge in January after the current Manchester City manager fell out with key figures at the club.
After a promising start, results soon faded and Rosenior lost every one of his final five Premier League matches, with Chelsea unable to score during that run.
Nevertheless, he is still held in high regard for his time at Strasbourg, Chelsea’s partner club, which ended the 2024‑25 season in seventh place and secured a Uefa Conference League spot while fielding the youngest squad in Europe’s top five leagues.
Rosenior began his coaching path with Brighton’s under‑23 side, then moved to Derby County where he first served as Wayne Rooney’s assistant before taking over as interim manager.
He was appointed head coach of Hull City in 2022, guiding them to a 15th‑place finish in the Championship in his debut season and then seventh the following year, but was let go after narrowly missing out on the play‑offs.
Chelsea have replaced Rosenior with Xabi Alonso, the former Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen manager, making the ex‑Spain midfielder the sixth permanent boss at Stamford Bridge in four years under BlueCo’s ownership.
