“It is encouraging to see the changes the club has introduced,” Van de Ven said in July.
“There is clearly a renewed sense of ambition at the club, which is especially important for players who have been here for many years.
“The previous campaign was extremely difficult and our performances were not acceptable, so putting that experience behind us and making a fresh start is very meaningful.”
Tottenham have ended two consecutive Premier League seasons in 17th place, with their fight to avoid relegation continuing until the final day of the 2025-2026 campaign.
Following a challenging nine-month period in which the club appointed three different managers, Van de Ven expressed optimism about a more positive future under De Zerbi.
“His approach will be different from that of the manager we worked with last season,” Van de Ven said.
“The style should also be more entertaining for supporters because we intend to play attacking football.
“That change was necessary because morale throughout the squad had become quite low.”
