Arsenal possess one of the strongest squads in European football.
After investing £250m in eight new players last summer on their way to winning the title, the Gunners have committed roughly another £200m this year. They made Piero Hincapie’s loan move permanent for £34.5m, recruited Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United for £75m, signed Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge for £34m and brought Ezri Konsa in from Aston Villa for £55m.
Asked about the depth of his squad, Arteta said that this was exactly what the team required.
He explained that the new arrivals had made an immediate impact, with each player helping the side gain greater control and build momentum.
Arteta added that their concentration and determination to support the team could prove crucial over the course of the campaign.
Although Arsenal’s impressive squad depth is clear, the attacking department remains one area that could receive further reinforcement.
The club have continued searching for a top-class forward capable of improving their attack and may still complete more business before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
Their attempt to recruit Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr did not succeed, while Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez has remained a long-term target.
Arteta said the club would keep looking for opportunities to strengthen the squad until the window closed the following evening.
He also revealed that he had stepped away from transfer developments for the previous 24 hours to focus entirely on the match but would now turn his attention back to them.
When questioned specifically about Alvarez, Arteta said the matter was being handled by senior club officials.
Regardless of how Arsenal’s pursuit develops, Arteta’s team appear well equipped to remain serious contenders at the top of the table.
